Long & Partners carried out the detailed design for the new services for the new book storage
facility in Swindon. A separate ancillary block has cleaning facilities for the books copying and
unpacking facilities

The building comprises four huge storage chambers each 80x40x15m in vertical height which house multitier racking housing the documents.
A separate multitier stack in one chamber has plan chests for maps and flat documents. The storage facility environment is closely controlled
by airhandling units maintaining the space conditions 18+/- 1deg c and 50%rh +/-5%

Specialist fire alarms, Vesda and security systems protect the building with UV protected lighting.
